Risky Buisness

H&M Blazer and Blouse, Tank from work, Uniqlo Jeans, Ralph Lauren Boots

What better way to start the work week than with a professional, masculine inspired look?

It was slightly warm out, so I wasn’t hesitant to throw on this over-sized silky blouse. I added the blazer for layering… because I needed something for warmth and didn’t want to wear another stinking cardigan. (Although I didn’t wear the blazer in the office).

The blouse is pink… but still neutral. I like that about this piece, and feel that this look is really a step out of my “lazy” comfort zone, and a step into a fresher, new style for me.

Bad Blogger

I’m a bad blogger…

I had an amazing birthday party with some very fabulous, fashionable friends… and have no pictures to show for it. We enjoyed quiet a sophisticated dinner full of margaritas and guacamole and then proceeded to sneak (name drop) our way into a posh LES cabaret lounge, where we danced on stage, met up with side show acts, and flirted with bartenders till our livers cried. It was amazing, and I am sad that I can’t hire a personal photographer to follow me around, take outfit photos, and motivate me to post them on a daily basis…… (that sounds a lot like Jake’s job description right now).

Anyways, my birthday was awesome.

Next came fashion week.

My company’s Fall presentation was on Saturday at our new penthouse loft. It was amazing, truly one of those moments where you feel that all of your hard work has paid off and you finally understand why you do it all… because you love it.

Everything from the drinks, to the live music, to the clothes, was amazing…. and once again, I wish I had enlisted an intern to take photos.

Anyways, here’s to a new Lunar year! Year of the Tiger is my birth year, and I have a feeling 2010 will be a good one. So stay posted…

Another Year Older…

Thrifted Emanuel Ungaro Dress, Tights ?, Thrifted Marc Jacobs Pumps, Terra Cotta Pashmina, Via Spiga Coat, Vintage Coach Purse

Friday was my birthday. Yes, I am another year older…

This year I celebrated by enjoying a wonderful dinner with my boyfriend and taking in amazing seats at a Broadway show. (Thanks Mom and Dad!!!)

I have been dying to see Wicked since it first came out. I love the book. I love the music. I love Kristen Chenoweth and Idina Menzel. And even though I didn’t get to see those lovely ladies perform, I did get to see the most amazing musical I have seen to date…. it was sooo worth waiting nearly 7 years to see it!

All of the excitement and pure bliss of living in the moment completely took my mind off of the fact that I am now in my mid-twenties… and there is no looking back.

I’m trying to embrace it all, but I much prefer just distracting myself with pretty musicals and shinny things.

By shinny things, of course I am referring to my birthday present to myself… my dress.

Yes, it’s Emanuel Ungaro. Yes, it’s thrifted. Yes, it was extremely reasonably priced! (less than the cost of an H&M dress!)

It was a wonderful birthday! Thank you everyone who contributed to me smiling so much, my eyes disappeared (see first photo).

Dreams vs. Realities

Twelve by Twelve blouse, H&M Cardigan, Banana Republic Belt, Uniqlo Jeans, Colin Stuart Heels

Okay, I’ll admit that I am feeling just a wee bit exhausted today… and I know it’s showing through in these photos. Today was a typical Wednesday. It was hard to get out of bed. It was hard to pick an outfit. And especially after last night’s snow storm, it was very hard to motivate myself to leave the house.

I played a little make-believe this morning, and threw on some of my favorite pumps. I never get to wear heels to work anymore (they’re just not sensible), and I am sure you all know from my incessant ranting, that I am so sick of flats and boots! I really want summer to roll around. I love gladiator sandals and espadrille wedges…. Oh I cannot wait.

Anyways, back to the subject at hand. I threw on these pumps an pretended I wasn’t going to spend the entire day on my feet. So these pictures represent what I WISH I wore and what actually made the cut.

Target Boots

Don’t feel bad for me though. This blog isn’t a pity party. I just keep reminding myself everyday, that the harder I work, the more hours I put into a job where I have to wear flats and jeans 90% of the time… the closer I am to my corner office, my name at the top of a masthead, and a closet full of these!

Calm Before the Fashion Storm

French Connection Turtleneck, F21 Jeans, H&M Necklace, Ralph Lauren Boots

With snow on the forecast for today, I decided to bundle up. A basic grouping of grey and black shades, off-set by a black and silver necklace. Very simple, very Tuesday. Very fitting for Groundhog Day… let’s gear up for another 6 weeks of winter people.

On a happier note, I was able to watch them set up the Fashion Week tent in Bryant Park today. It was so much fun, and so exciting to anxiously watch… thinking about all the wonderful people and beautiful clothes that will grace those catwalks next week. I love fashion week, and all these preparations for the festivities have me dreaming up more exciting and experimental outfits for next week!

The light dusting for snow we got tonight created a beautiful winter wonderland in the park, like something that should have been captured in a snowglobe. I only wish that I had my camera to capture the sight.

Also, I’m reserving all my energy and fashion-sense for this weekend… I’ve got lots to celebrate!

Seeing Stripes

Tuesday, February 2nd, 2010

H&M Blazer and Tee, Uniqlo Jeans, Ralph Lauren Boots

Okay, so after knocking breton stripes yesterday, I caved in… yes, I am wearing a striped shirt that looks very much like one of these.

The truth is, I’ve been looking for just the right striped shirt, and this one fit the bill. Not only was it friendly to my wallet, but it also has cute little button details (that you can’t see in these pictures), AND unlike many striped tees… it doesn’t remind me of one of these.

The blazer is supposed to say that I mean buisness. But it also served as another layer without wearing a sweater, yet again.

I don’t know if I’m the only one, but I am REALLY getting sick of cardigans and boots. Spring cannot get here soon enough!

Market Publique Sweater, Tank Dress – free from work, Uniqlo Jeans, Ralph Lauren Boots, Vintage Coach Purse, Urban Outfitters Sunnies

This sweater is one of my favorite new additions to my wardrobe. I purchased it from the lovely Pamela of Market Publique a few weeks back, and have been day dreaming up fun ways to wear it ever since.

Today, I wasn’t so creative with the outfit, but I felt very vintage and the sweater just topped off the cool factor for me. This is my way of rocking the Breton stripe look; black, white, and stripes all over!

One reason I felt especially vintage today… I debuted my new vintage Coach bag! Yesterday, while I was out running errands, my trusty, tried and true, love-of-my-life, Sabina bag broke. I have apparently worn down the hardware on the strap to the point that it won’t stay attached to the bag anymore. Does anyone know of a good handbag doctor? I’m in tears thinking about having to replace this beauty.

Nonetheless, I pushed passed the tears and headed to the nearest store to find a suitable replacement. While examining this specific specimen (adding up it’s potential cost per wear) I realized it was a vintage Coach bag, and the price was a steal! Done deal. I bought it and I am not looking back. It’s no Sabina… but it will do.

I spent the rest of the weekend doing chores, hanging out with the boyfriend, and doing a little more shopping. (My birthday is next week, so I had to find the perfect dress).

How was your weekend?
