It’s not the most original DIY project, but it is rediculously simple and does a great job of reducing clutter while organizing your jewels!

Last weekend (with the help of some family and friends) I gathered the necessary  items to finally put together an accessory wall organizer.

The final product can be seen here:

I haven’t hung all of my jewels and accesories up yet, but I wanted to share how you can make your own.

What You Need:

- empty frame. My boyfriend found this giant one on the sidewalk on his way over to my apartment one day. We thought about painting it, but once it was cleaned up a bit I decided I liked the worn “shabby-chic” look a little better.

- pegboard cut to size. Home Depot will usually cut this for you on site, but the day I went they were sold out of full sheets and their saw was broken. We made due with a hand saw at home.

- Various hooks and hardware made for pegboard organizers

What to Do:

- Cut the pegboard to fit just inside the gutter of the frame.

- Screw / staple / secure into place. (I used screws with large washers to hold all of the pieces in place)

- Hang the frame from the wall and begin to design the layout of your board with your hooks!

See, so ridiculously simple that I almost didn’t even need to type that out for you.

You can get very creative with the hooks, using different shapes for different types of jewelry. Big earrings can even be hung on the pegboard holes by themselves without hardware.

Long Row of Hooks; Perfect for Long Necklaces

Hooks Usually Intended for Hammers Work Great for Hanging Necklaces and Dangling Earrings

Organizing jewelry and various hair and outfit accessories can be a vary tedious task, so if you have any suggestions for how to keep your closet organized please share!

Fantastic post and idea! I used to have something similar to this in my room (although mine was made from some Finnish tree branches and toule; earrings hung from the toule and the tree branches had nails in them for necklaces to hang down) but after a few years and several moves, it died. I think I’m going to have to make one of these to replace it because the state of my jewelry right now is abhorrent.
