Style Sample Magazine Issue #5

Tuesday, January 5th, 2010

This month I had the great honor of being a guest editor / contributor for Style Sample Magazine.

I had a great time putting together a feature that explored a few favorite trends of some of my favorite bloggers.

I choose the theme of comfort and style, because during the chilly wintry season all you really want is to be warm and cozy… but who says that can’t be stylish?

Writing up this piece really made me nostalgic for my time spent as a Stylist / Fashion Editor at a magazine down in Georgia. I hope I have more opportunities like this one to contribute to the fashion blogging world.

I really had a great time putting the piece together and I hope you enjoy it!

And a special “THANK YOU!” to Charlene, Julie, Christen, Kelly, Heather, and Meghan to contributing!

What Goes Around Comes Around

Wednesday, November 4th, 2009

I’m not one for “re-blogs” or “chain posts”, but Christen over at La Rue Neuve was so sweet and kind enough to share this award with me… I had to re-post.

I am really honored. It’s so sweet to hear all the feedback from family, friends, and strangers I have met by writing this blog. I appreciate all the kind words, constructive criticism, and love.

I gladly accept Christen’s nomination, and in the spirit of this award will share 7 (not so) interesting things about me:

1. I was a Fashion Design / Writing major in college. It’s the best way I could combine my artistic and intellectual minds and I am so glad I found such an amazing school to let me study and create the way I wanted to.

2. My “real” name is Lizzie Jeanne. I am named after my Great-Aunt Lizzie and my Grandmother Jeanne.

3. Before I graduated college I had interviewed Pierre Cardin, had my designs featured in the front windows Saks Fifth Avenue, and served as the Fashion Director of a magazine… and I’ve only just begun.

4. I only like drinks that come with straws. (Fruit garnish and cocktail umbrellas are a plus too!)

5. I went to an all-girl’s school for 7 years… and turned out fine (I think).

6. I am obsessed with reading “personal growth” books like The Secret, Basic Black, and What Would Jackie Do? (other titles are too embarrassing to publish here… email me for recommendations)

7. Oprah, Martha Stewart, and Anna Wintour are my heroes and I hope to be like them / work for them one day.

And here are my nominations:

Idee Geniale, Preppy With A Twist, Love Meagan, Peeptoes, Fashion Bananas The Art of Jordan , and Pamela

I had so much fun putting this post together! I hope you can tell I am laughing through this entire post… you can never take yourself too seriously you know!

Thank you Christen, and thank you too all of my favorite blogs for posting all the time!

Weardrobe Tumblr

Friday, July 31st, 2009

So I was going through my morning blogroll, Style Caster, Weardrobe, Lookbook.nu, and finally weather.com when I suddenly stopped. Scrolling through the Weardrobe Tumblog, looking at all the beautiful outfits posted by members the day before, I stumbled upon my very own mug… err back. It’s an honor to be among the beautiful outfits highlighted on the Weardrobe blog, so thank you very much Rich, Suz, and Jessica!

It was a great way to start the morning, and definitely put a little pep in my step as I pulled on my rainboots! If you’re not using Weardrobe yet, I highly recommend you give it a try. It’s full of tons of inspiration, and is very helpful for those mornings you have no clue what to wear. Also, if you like my dress, check out Market Publique for great vintage finds in a variety of sizes at terrific prices!

Daily Outfit: July 19, 2009

Sunday, July 19th, 2009

A double dose of a “daily outfit” AND an “as seen in”!

This weekend was the weardrobe meetup! It was lots of fun. A gorgeous day, great company, and a bounty of yummy snacks; what more could you want? We all gathered in sheep’s meadow under the shade of 9 red balloons. It was something out of a Sex and the City-meets-Great Gatsby, but in a 21st Century-internet-meetup kinda way. (Does that description even make sense?) Anyways it was lots of fun, and Jenni from Daily Work It beat me to the punch (not hard to do) and blogged about it first, see more pictures on her blog! (Of course she caught me in a fit of nervous laughter… so typical)

As for what I wore:

Daily Outfit: July 19, 2009

When:
July 19, 2009

What:

Dress: Anthropologie (on sale!)
Necklace: Gift from Best Friend
Posey Bracelet: Katheryn Riechert via Shop SCAD
St. Croix Bracelet: Gift from Uncle
Ring: April Kawaoka via Esty
Shoes: Go Jane

Where:
Central Park and the Weardrobe Meetup

Why:
This past weekend was so hot! I knew I wanted something light and easy to wear, so this cotton strapless dress was a no-brainer. I bought it on sale (of course) and couldn’t wait to wear it out. The easy, layer-less look worked perfectly for the day, and I didn’t get any weird tan lines from it! (Note: I am aware that I have a bathing-suit tanline from my vacation in Wisconsin over the 4th of July).

I like the dress a lot, but wish it was a little shorter. Trying to decide if it’s worth “Frankenstein-ing” the dress, and moving the zipper, the pockets, and the empire gathers in an effort to shorten it. Any suggestions?

As Seen In:

Wednesday, July 1st, 2009

Had a great laugh today, because we joked that this is what would happen:

How many webpages can you screen capture at once? A few. WhatIWore featured a post from last nights’ event at Le Royale hoested by The Blend for Weardrobe and Market Publique. All of my favorites in one place? How could I resist attending?

The best part? Now, Mariellie and I are featured not only on WIW, but also Guest of a Guest! Dreams coming true people, haha this is too funny not to share.
