Trying to reinvent and pull old pieces out of the closet, I pieced this look together in about 20 minutes without any morning blogroll (so unlike me!).

The dress (previously seen here) is a simple basic that I probably won’t be able to pull off the colder it gets.

The tights and cardigan are not only season appropriate (and intended to keep me warm), but also serve the purpose of adding some color to the look. Look at me, wearing color… I know. I know. I can barely recognize myself.

Happy Tuesday / Wednesday people… I’m having trouble keeping them straight.

Why:

I decided to come back to New York from my extra long weekend down south with a bang. Here is a pop of color in a bright and crazy print (so not me, but I love it… so maybe it is me), paired with a tailored blazer for an office appropriate “back-to-work” look.

The belt is my new favorite thing; ever. I got the itch to find a double wrap belt after seeing how Liz was sinching in her sillouette for fall (I didn’t see until today that she wore a similar outfit this weekend).

Also, I am a sucker for purple shoes. I only have a few pairs, but they are all my favorites. So rich and yet so simple, I feel like these wedges keep the look from looking to bland and “corporate” without looking like I’m trying to be some crazy fashionista-model type. I get enough comments as it is on how “over dressed” I am for work.

So there you have it, a bright and shinny start to what I hope will be a great week. I don’t have many photos from the weekend as it rained most all of Saturday and Sunday was full of tearful goodbyes.
